Jupiter

Carolyn Takes a Look Back

Everybody has to start somewhere, and at the time this assignment came my way, I'd been writing news stories about space and, of course, planetarium shows. I had just started graduate school on what I hoped would be the route to a PhD in astrophysics. I fell in love with planetary objects, and eventually ended up studying comets as part of my work at the University of Colorado. In the meantime, places like Jupiter beckoned, and this book was a fun start to a rewarding bookwriting career.

Don's artwork was already mostly done by the time I began writing, so it made the text creation pretty straightforward. Don and I knew each other from covering Voyager missions at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. So, with his artwork and my writing, we made a successful go of Jupiter for kids.
