Fulldome show licensing/pricing/slicing
It's as easy as

2,
3!
1 First, there's the SHOW LICENSE FEE...
|
All our shows have a license fee, which basically buys you the permission you need to present them to the public. Each show requires a performance license agreement to be signed and returned to us before your theater is authorized to present the show. The license is for a period of 50 years — for all practical purposes, unlimited time. There's no sliding price scale for "size of market", no "gate share" — one simple price. Here are some examples:

2 Then, add the cost for the VIDEO MOVIE FILES...
|
Our fulldome shows are movies, made from fisheye circle images called dome masters that we've pre-rendered at resolutions commonly found in today's projector systems. We've set the price at $1 per pixel, based on the diameter of the dome master circle we used. Choose the optimal size for your projector system. Contact us or your system manufacturer for recommendations.

Small size shows ship as ready-to-play MPG or MOV files recorded on data DVDs. The stereo soundtrack is usually multiplexed into the video, or we provide the appropriate audio files (multichannel WAV, OGG, AC3, etc.) separately.
For those systems requiring customers to slice or pre-warp their movies, we can provide visuals as dome master frames — sequentially numbered maximum quality JPGs.
Larger size shows too big to efficiently store on DVDs will need external hard drives. You will need to contact us before you place your order, so we can advise you on choosing one of these two options:
PREFERRED: We buy a new drive, and add the cost onto your order. You keep it — you'll probably need it to archive our materials anyway.
ALTERNATIVE: We send you a loaner drive; after you copy the data, you return it to us, using our provided return airbill and paying the round-trip shipping costs.
We'll use FedEx to ship hard drives, not USPS.

3 Plus (if needed), SLICING...
|
Some MULTI-PROJECTOR edge-blended systems can display a single fisheye circle movie directly, but others require pre-slicing of a show's images into the individual channels needed for each projector. If you have the latter, we need to add a video slicing fee to the "buck-a-pixel" price from above. Slicing for theaters with non-standardized configurations will need to be done on a custom basis. Contact us for details.

What we send...
In addition to the featured show, we also provide:
* The fulldome version of the trailer posted here on our Web site
* Still images which can be used for advertising and promotion (also found on the show's Downloads page)
* A reference book in printed and/or PDF form, with show transcripts, production notes, acknowledgements, resources and additional information.
Installation...
While it may be possible to play the video directly from our DVDs on your fulldome system, we expect you'll copy the files onto your system's hard drive for optimum performance. We provide pre-written play scripts for some systems; others will simply edit button scripts or enter the necessary system commands to load and play the movies.
