Time was, lots of people needed these, but these days your system probably has them installed already. If not, it's a relatively painless one-time procedure.

Fortunately, plug-ins are plentiful, FREE, and downloadable for all platforms -- Windows, Macintosh, Unix, Linux, BeOS and more.

Most players install themselves. Windows, for example, will simply call up the viewer whenever it encounters its associated file type. On other platforms, you may need to configure your Web browser to use the player; check the instructions that will come with the download.
