About the LNP Planetarium Specification 3.0

This document attempts to define the "state of the planetarium".

In contrast to the 1990 L-H-S Level Specification 1.0, which offered various "achievement" levels based on equipment capabilities, this document instead discusses all the various choices available for configuring a modern planetarium theater.

The ambitious scope of this document can be seen by expanding the entire folder tree at left. However, I predict the interested reader will be dismayed to discover that many of the documents below the second level of the heirarchy have yet to be written. I intend to continue working on them as time permits. Naturally, I envision including illustrations and links to sources and resources. My article on standardization offers a preview of the ultimate form these future documents will take.

In the meantime, the structure of the folder tree should be informative to those searching for information on the "nuts and bolts" of the weird round room that is the planetarium theater. I hope this document will be especially useful to those planning on renovating or building new facilities.
