Loch Ness Productions is increasingly becoming involved in a variety of projects that bring astronomy to the public through new media forms. Our expertise is featured in multimedia production services for exhibits and online "broadcast" projects, as well as content for software and other products.
Here are some projects we've worked on recently.
| EXHIBITS |

NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory
In 2010, Carolyn Collins Petersen worked with JPL as the chief writer for the exhibits in the lab's von Kármán Visitor Center. The exhibition covers JPL's contributions to astronomy, planetary exploration, and space science.

California Academy of Sciences
In 2007, Carolyn Collins Petersen collaborated with Cinnabar California and the CAS in San Francisco on a major exhibit called "California's Altered State." She wrote the exhibit copy that covers topics in climate change and global warming, and worked with several of the project's video producers on copy for the exhibit multimedia sequences.

Griffith Observatory
From 2006-2007, Loch Ness Productions vice-president Carolyn Collins Petersen worked with Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, California, under contract to the Friends of the Observatory. During this time she served as senior science writer for an extensive astronomy exhibition, writing astronomy outreach copy for more than 160 text panels, as well as a number of multimedia and video exhibits.

Solar Storms to Radio Waves
We created video for an interactive Spin Browser exhibit for The Discovery Museums, Acton, Massachusetts. It contains 30 minutes of fascinating imagery from satellites and observatories studying the Sun, and shows children how scientists study space weather.

VODCASTS AND PODCASTS

Space Weather FX!
This series of eight video podcasts is a collaboration between Loch Ness Productions and MIT Haystack Observatory. Funded under the NASA Living With a Star program, Space Weather FX! explores the causes and effects of space weather and focuses special attention on space weather research at Haystack Observatory.

Astrocast.TV
Carolyn serves as segment producer for The Astronomer's Universe on Astrocast.TV -- a Web-based video news program covering events in astronomy and space science. Her topics have ranged from the exploration of Mars to discoveries at the limits of the observable universe.

Astronomy Behind the Headlines
This series of eight audio podcasts is a project of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific and produced by Loch Ness Productions. It is funded by NASA. We create the scripts in conjunction with ASP and selected scientists, conduct interviews and combine the material with Mark's space music for a unique outreach product aimed at informal educators and the general public. Topics range from asteroid studies to planetary searches, life on Mars, and radio measurements of black holes.

365 Days of Astronomy
Loch Ness Productions was a supporter of the 365 Days of Astronomy project during the 2009 International Year of Astronomy. We created 11 podcasts on topics ranging from lobate scarps on Mercury to the mysteries of magnetars. In 2010, we continued to produce astronomy and space-science-related podcasts for the project. Here is a complete list and links to our podcasts.

Seeker
We wrote and produced more than 100 short-subject audio tours for Software Bisque's Seeker astronomy software. They range from tours of planets and moons to quick looks at orbiting satellites and exploration probes.
