HST Status

If you're running our classic planetarium show HUBBLE Vision 2, here's some good news to report. We've updated the HST Status image that ends the show, to include NASA's reconsideration of another HST servicing mission.

Just download the image and make a new slide!

A new feature for The Fulldome Theater Compendium ONLINE! — Google Earth Placemarks!

If you have the cool (and free) Google Earth program installed, you can display the location of any fulldome theater in the world by clicking on its Google Earth link.

In this initial posting, we have come as close as we could to having a comprehensive listing for all 200+ fulldome theaters. But we had to guess in a few spots where we don't have complete address information, or Google doesn't have high enough resolution imagery. Japan is particularly tricky, since the maps in Google's databases don't use English street names. So if you can improve on our location spotting, please do. Just use Google Earth to set the corrected Placemark, then e-mail it to us from within the program. Or, copy the coordinates (use fractional degrees in decimals, not minutes and seconds) and use our Compendium Update Forms.

We're changing our Internet home address to more closely match our name!

More than a decade after parking our Web and e-mail addresses at the rather generic lochness.com, Loch Ness Productions has taken up residence at the more-precisely-named lochnessproductions.com. (The old destination will work for a little while longer, but it will eventually go elsewhere.)

So, we have three requests:

1. Please update your e-mail address book entries for Mark and Carolyn. Just insert "productions" between "lochness" and ".com".

2. Please update your Web browser quick links. Try this:

3. If you have any links to Loch Ness Productions on your own Web site, please modify those as well. (Yes, we know it can be a pain; we only had to modify some 1,300 instances on our own pages here!)

We thank you in advance!

O43 Parkes Observatory All-sky

We've added 17 new all-skies from Australia to Category O of our Image Library.

You'll find the Anglo-Australian Observatory, the Australia Telescope Compact Array, the Canberra Deep Space Communications Complex, and of course, "The Dish" at Parkes. There's even a shot of the Opera House at Sydney Harbour.

We've added Sky-Skan's DomeXF dome master plug-in for Adobe After Effects for Windows to our Production Tools product line.

17 June 2006

We've added QuickTime MOVs and MP4s of our fulldome show trailers on each of their pages. You could watch them on your video iPod if you wanted!

7 February 2006

We've been enhancing our Fulldome Video pages.

We have expanded our Fulldome Web Resources links page.

We have also added an extensive page, called A Planetarian's Primer For Fulldome, where we answer a lot of the questions we've been receiving recently from planetarians just starting out on the learning curve of the medium. If you don't know a dome master from a donut, this is the place for you!
